Fourth Annual ACN 5K Run crosses the finish line in style!
The skies cleared and the sun shone to showcase the popular ACN 5K fundraising run this past weekend in Reston, VA. Faithful supporters, past runners and first-time participants alike assembled in front of the True Food Kitchen to cross over onto the WD & O trail to complete the 5K course in whatever fashion worked best for them. Looking at the pictures below, that included strollers, fast-paced runners, casual walkers and some on Daddy's shoulders, but all were walking for the same cause - to help support the important work that Alliance Care Now (formerly Orphan Care Ethiopia) is doing to change the plight of the vulnerable children in Ethiopia.
Donations to ACN come from a wide net of folks, all with a personal reason
for giving from the heart. One special donation on race day came from one of the youngest runners, Caleb, pictured below, who brought $13 from his piggy bank to help the cause. What a blessing and example he was to us all!

Coming across the finish line first here in Reston was Micah Wells, a first-time runner. He received a $25 Gift Card from True Food to enjoy after the race!

Joining in via Zoom to run at the same time was an energetic group of runners from Ethiopia, with Belay, a resident at the Kolfe Orphanage in Addis, leading the pack! He is a participant in the ACN mentoring program and it was pure joy to see him volunteering as a runner to pay it forward. That is truly ACN in action!
